Community Tasting Notes 8

August 21, 2013 - Dark red / maroon. Pleasant medicinal nose of cherries some pencil shavings and menthol. Palate is similar to the nose with a lush, slightly racy finish. Traces of coffee grounds, dirt and tar also appear and linger on the finish. Tastes a little burnt but displays plenty of red fruit and sweetness. There's still a little tannic grip in there. This is a good wine. I'm curious to see where it will go from here given the nature of the '03 vintage.

March 18, 2013 - very appealing nose - some pencil shaving, ripe red fruits and tobacco. Smells like it's going to be some lovely claret
fruit a little porty, some grippy tannins which fade quickly, smoky, fades very fast
    not long
decent stuff, not exciting though, don't keep.

March 25, 2012 - Very balanced fruit and smooth finish. Excellent for a casual evening of cheese, fruit and bread.

November 14, 2011 - A nicely put together wine on pop & pour. Elegant with blackberry, cherry and some nice leather elements. Currants, cocoa, baking spices and refined oak notes. Hints of brett, but not too significant. Great QPR, Drink Now. 88-90.

One glass held overnight and it was pretty tired next day. Best to pop and pour.

February 13, 2011 - This wine was much better 2-3 years ago. It may just be over it's prime. Drink now if you have in stock.
