Coup de cœur of the evening. Deep red. Vanilla, tobacco, spice aromas. Full bodied, round and smoooooth. Plum and tobacco flavors. Spicy and tannic bite with the long finish. Ready to drink now and I would not hold onto for long. Excellent quality for price.
From the night the wines to run out and buy are:
Hungaria Grande Cuvée Brut
Poças Coroa d'Ouro 2008
And then 1 or both of Les Jamelles Chardonnay 2012 (buttery, oak), Errazuriz Estate Chardonnay 2013 (citrus, mineral).
Ok were Wyndham Estate Bin 222 Chardonnay 2013, Segura Viudas Cava Reserva Brut, Bodega Castano Monastrell 2013 and Duque de Viseu 2011.
Not to our taste: Beauvignac Picpoul de Pinet 2013
Avoid: Fleur Du Cap Chardonnay 2013, C'est la Vie Pinot Noir / Syrah 2013. -
