September 28, 2019 - Wow!! What a wine! Decanted 1 hour, dark ruby color, complex nose full of rich black fruits such as cherries, plums, blueberry compote, currants along with licorice, leather, wood, graphite, chocolate with hints of smoke, cured meats, iron and earth. Palate is very opulent, sexy, full body, smooth, cherries, plums, with tobacco, vanilla and mocha flavors. Tannins are still alive but well integrated, well balanced acidity. Finish is over 30 seconds long.. 95 pts. Drink now or keep for 5 more years. Had it with braised lamb shank and it went well with it.

Wow. This producer never ceases to amaze.
On the nose, dried red fruit, cured meat, leather, tobacco, a touch of coffee and just all around ethereal.
On the palate this is well integrated. Fleshy merlot greats the palate and the tannic structure holds this in check. Moderate acidity and a crazy long finish.
    Incredible.
I’d hold for another few years but damn it’s good now.

August 24, 2019 - VEO Bordeaux Right Bank 1998, 2000 and 2001 (Restaurant Zoldering Amsterdam): Well structured and quite classic styled for Right Bank 1998. Tar, earth, pencil and black fruits in the attractive nose. Concentrated on the medium-bodied palate with kirsch liquor and dark fruits. Good acidity and freshness but some dryness in the finish. Not super delineated. Drink up in the coming 5 years.

July 11, 2019 - This has accelerated forward in its development in the last 6 months and is fully mature and drinking at its peak. It is up there now with the 1989, and should stay here for the next decade. The nose is full of red cherry, blackcurrant, and blackberry, but with tobacco notes adding a steeliness. The tannin is fully resolved, but is quite dominant on the palate. However, the wine is well balanced and deep in the mouth and on the finish, which is 30 seconds plus. As mentioned previously, as with a lot of the right bank wines from the vintage, this could be mistaken as a typical left banker.

(Tertre Rotebouef) Good but not great. Big, sloppy and ripe but showing some heat on the finish. Not as ethereal as a bottle at Montrachet over a year ago. Really seemed kind of structureless.
