May 23, 2022 - Whites by more famous Red makers.....& vice versa. (Grill Room, Hong Kong Country Club, Shouson Hill, Hong Kong): Ridiculously light green-gold Sauvignon Blanc colour. Nose is fresh, youthful popcorn-butter but so young, with fresh squeezed whole lemon, a slightly whisky smoke element is the only hint that it isn't ten years younger. Palate is gorgeous primary fresh acid attack, lemon juice. So refreshing and vibrant. Gosh! As we remarked, we can't understand why most people don't drink this and other 'white Burgundy'-style Napa Chardonnays beyond a few years of release, but at least it means it is a bargain at auction. I have amended the CT drinking window out to 2028. Thanks, Daniel!

December 8, 2017 - Bottle was well past its prime, but still drinkable and showing complexity. Hints of butterscotch and smoke, along with pear and lemon rind and an interesting mushroomy / umami mid-palate. Drink now if you have any left!

April 5, 2014 - Bottle was past its prime but nonetheless a nice drinking chard. Oakiness not as prevalent as previous raters but buttery smooth.

May 20, 2012 - A bit blue cheesy. Good classy minerality and oomph. Old stuff but Very well structured

May 18, 2012 - Judgment of Singapore: Part 1 - Chardonnay and Syrah (Zeffir, Dunlop Street): This was actually very decent. It had a very nice nose, very mature, with a slight whiff of almost Chevre-like cheesy funk that blew away slightly to reveal some creme fraiche scents, ripe white fruit aromas and some dulcet honeyed tones with whiff of roasted chestnuts at the edges. A nice, intriguing bouquet. The palate was a bit weaker than the nose - it seemed to be coming apart a little at the seams, with slightly disjointed bits of lemony acid sticking out amidst a good bit of fleshy, weighty appley fruit, honeyed melons and tropical mango flavours, and there was just a hint of alcohol heat in there as well. However, it still managed to come across as well-packaged. It was quite a pleasure to drink actually - rather sweet, a bit clunky at points, but somehow still quite balanced and certainly yummy in spite of all that. It had a good, lingering finish too, with spice, a nice minerality and more honeyed fruit playing a nice little harmony on the back-palate. A neat drink, but this is just starting to get past its peak drinking. I think it would have been a pretty nice new world Chard a few years back.
