Community Tasting Notes 10

November 24, 2010 - Bottle was decanted and showed a large amount of sediment. It was filtered again into a second decanter using a coffee filter. In the end it was a nice wine, definitely mature, perhaps past prime. Nice dark fruit on first taste and clean finish. Very mild tannins.

April 16, 2010 - Great nose that didn't quite follow through on the body. Blueberries and umami-meat. just shy of medium-bodied, wonderful acidity. Got disjointed and too acidic (fruit disappeared) about 3 hours after opening. 88+

January 10, 2009 - Opened with a lot of high toned fruit. After it settled down it picked up some of the nice earthy mourvedre notes. Great acidity, nice fruit. Quite enjoyable.

May 15, 2008 - Better on day 2. My wife's succient verdict "unfiltered cranberry juice". It was not that simple but I got a lot of the same. Mat's note on the bottle said unfiltered and it looked it. I got a lot of tart fruit with spice. Not too much oak evident. On day 2 we drank alongside an 05 Opolo Mourvedre (West Side Paso too). The Opolo was more my style was some noticeable creaminess imparted from oak (I'd assume) and a bit more rounded fruit. I did not get any earthiness or the 'mushroom' aroma RP described in his tasting note.
