September 26, 2013 - Aged for a year in oak barrels and at least 30 months in bottles before release.

Very concentrated, opaque appearance with a brooding, dark red color and faint purple highlights. Very dense, ripe and extracted nose with brooding aromas of dark fruits - dominated by typical CS notes of blackcurrants - and some developed notes of leather, earth, some forest floor and a hint of moist pipe tobacco. A hint of toasty oak in the background. Very muscular, full-bodied and chewy on the palate with nice, light bitterness giving some positive roughness to the ripe flavors of savory blackcurrant, pronounced peppery spice, aromatic leather and hints of sweeter, toasty oak. On the tip of the tongue the wine feels sweeter, riper and softer, whereas in other parts of the wine it feels quite robust, angular and grippy with pronounced, grippy tannins and lively acidity. The mdoerately mouthdrying finish is firm, chewy and medium in length with powerful flavors of peppery spice, tannic bitterness, sun-baked earth and hints of tart plums.

Overall the wine feels quite international and probably not speaking much about sense of place, but it is also positively structured, balanced and serious. Although I normally prefer Spanish wines that are obviously Spanish, I still find myself enjoying this wine quite a bit. It is very structured, grippy and serious for a Cabernet with good emphasis on powerful and ripe, but still fresh and savory fruit, not for example overextracted oak character which is often quite typical for modern Spanish reds. The wine is still quite young despite being already 6 years old and showing some aged characteristics. An impressive effort well worth cellaring; will benefit from both decanting and pairing with pretty heavy dishes. Terrific value at 14,29€.

March 5, 2012 - Cassis to plum on the warm nose with leather and slight herbaceousness.
Fullbodied palate of rather ripe fruit, refreshing acidity and good tannic grip. Peppery notes, herbaceous lift, graphite and a touch of florality. Mid-length.
Pretty nice riper CS actually - especially as I usually prefer to see the variety used in blends. Drinking well.
