May 19, 2012 - This must have just been released, it sure tastes young, but it also tastes very good. This Cabernet is on the soft side. I'm pretty sure there is some whole cluster fermentation, or at least a minimal crushing of the berries. The color is a very rich dark magenta. The smoky nose has the tell tail sign of a big hit of French oak. There is raspberry and plum with some red licorice also. The fruit is very ripe, soft and expressive, but definitely affected by a little too much oak. Very creamy on the palate, there probably is some lees treatment, and probably some maceration. The acid is solid. Nice job integrating the alcohol. Not exactly complex, but very balanced and complete. More oak and licorice on the finish.
