December 25, 2022 - Christmas Day 2022 (My place, Kent Street): From Coravin. Note form November still applies here, from a weight perspective this is a little light for the stew…probably one to open with e.g. Steak Tartare (minus the Tabasco)

November 29, 2022 - Coravin fun - Haut Bailly (My place, Kent Street): From Coravin. Initially quite herbal on the nose, a little smoky almost bonfire note leather, not much fruit left but, with time, a bit of baking spice and an almost cola note, smells quite fresh. And it's quite herbaceous on the palate with medium plus intensity, a little sourness (which may be adding that acidic impression), tiny balsamic note, talc textured tannins grate against the tongue, some red hued fruit, slight alcohol warmth on the finish. Not as nice as last tasting and probably time to tidy up with firm white fish in a buttery sauce...

November 19, 2022 - Excellent bottle, tons of sediment. A nice touch of sweet aged fruit left here with a wonderful Graves smokiness that permeates the wine. Fully mature and fully into its tertiaries with a nice complex finish.

September 3, 2021 - Coravin fun - Haut Bailly (My place, Kent Street): From Coravin. Aromas of earth, pyrazine, blood, roast beef, hints of bramble and blackcurrant, smoky spices and clove, leather. With time a little raspberry/rhubarb note as well as Autumn leaves. On the palate it has juicy acidity, the pyrazine note with slightly smoky dark fruits with a rhubarb underpin. Tannins are silky but strangely mouth puckering. Travels very long with a little alcohol warmth. This is the pick of the 1978 Bordeaux's I've tried (not that i've tried that many)

July 7, 2021 - level lower neck, poor friable cork, quite brown in colour, nose really grows with time, next (last) bottle leave 2 hours plus, lovely restrained classy intense scorched earth Graves nose, very fine, palate beautifully smooth with perfect balance but with surprising depth and concentration for such a smooth palate, this is a great characteristic of Haut Bailly, excellent length and persistence, lovely aged Graves, has not deteriorated in the 7 years since the last bottle, clearly on a stable plateau
