October 17, 2015 - very drinkable...medium/fat body....not classic bordeaux, a little more cassis, plum and slight hints of vanilla to give it some differentiation. yum!

December 22, 2012 - This wine, a blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, was purchased on "perusal" of the Costco Bordeaux section. Being quite familiar with the quality of the 2009 vintage but completely unfamiliar with this château, I was intrigued. The wine was Vinturi-decanted and serially tasted over the ensuing 2-3 hours. The robe is opaque crimson and the nose opens after an hour to show moderately intense aromas of cassis, licorice, vanilla and a (tolerable) whiff of brett. On the palate the wine is medium-bodied, with medium acidity and medium fine-grained tannins. Despite being listed as 14.5%, the alcohol is fairly well-integrated. The flavors run tandem to the nose. The middle palate is disappointing, thinning out substantially toward the back end, and the finish is truncated and dry. Given the pedigree of the vintage, I suspect that this wine is simply too young to be fully strutting its stuff. Give it 3-5 years before making any definitive assessment. If you drink it earlier, I strongly suggest that you give it more aeration time than I did for this tasting. My "gestalt" is that, with time, the middle will fill in and the wine will warrant a higher score in the future. Drink 1/16-12/25.

October 22, 2012 - Inky purple with a nice spicy preserve jam quality to the nose...
Touch of spice to the palate with a smooth round tannin and Mineral Fore Palate into deep current and boysenberry. Very good terroir in the Saint Emillion North. Such a smooth finish too, with a silky/lush flavor...

    Loved it ! ! !

August 13, 2012 - $33 at Costco makes this a reasonably decent value for 2009 Bordeaux. A couple of hours in the decanter softens this Merlot dominated wine (80% Merlot, 20% Cab Franc) nicely. I don't get the overuse of oak that is noted in the WA review of this wine but that's just me. Color is deep and dark and the wine is nicely concentrated. Probably requires 3-5 more years of bottle aging to start to really shine. Drink starting 2015.
