March 31, 2022 - Technically, exceptional! The enjoyment factor, less so. Why? TOO. MUCH. WOOD. The overabundant, high-quality wood, imparts tobacco, lit cigar, and dried tar elements to the wine, while overwhelming sense of variety and place. Regarding place, all elements scream France, yet from where. If blind, I would have likely placed it in the north Rhone, probably Hermitage...on account of the barrel imparted smokiness.

I would have liked to have tasted the (Grenache) fruit and (Gigondas) place. Not many Perrin offerings are so heavily oaked. Oh well.

November 5, 2021 - Not a typical Gigondas, in the same way that Rayas is not typical CdP. Commendable depth of fruit, but in a wine of considerable elegance. Impeccable balance. Like a Burgundy made with Grenache.

December 12, 2020 - Deep dark fruit; black berries on entry, but lighter weight nuances and flavors develop over 3 hours of drinking. Flavors of leather, blue and black fruit dominated early, but the fresh notes and citrus developed after 2 hours. Remarkably good.

December 4, 2020 - Three hour decant. Blackberry, earthy and vegetal notes and heat on the nose. Medium bodied and slightly astringent. Muted fruit on the palate and a short spicey finish. Just an ok wine that seems to be in a reticent shutdown phase. Disappointing. At 10 years old this wine should be drinking well right now. My last bottle was in 2013, and that young wine was interesting and delicious in comparison, scored 90. Will try again perhaps in 2022.

March 27, 2020 - Opens with a slight licorice note, then very rich red berries. Taste has faded, and a little tiny.
