  June 5, 2022 - My thanks to the very good notes made by other drinkers on this wine. It assisted my decision to pursue at auction and I am very glad that I did. It rescued what had been a fairly uninspiring weekend with wine; as the fault lay largely with me and not the wines I was drinking it is a measure of how good this was that it could blast through the garbage that my psychology throws up.
  
  I think it has to be said at the start that this may well be a polarising wine, especially in Australia. It smells like a fantastic, classical, old Pauillac (whereas I think a lot of Margaret River Cabernet is either clearly Western Australian, or is reminiscent of St Julien). What that means is cassis fruit but there is also a lot of non-fruit aromas and flavours that speak of tobacco leaf, cedar and leaf, mulch/silage. It is these elements, which are very prominent that will divide. For some this will be a compost heap with a thin vein of cassis fruit overwhelmed by filth.
  
  For me it is a wonderful combination that takes me back to my earliest experiences with Bordeaux, poured for me by my father when I was in my early teens. I can still remember his excitement, as he tried the first 1976 and, later 1978 Bordeaux. Of course it was not a happy decade in Bordeaux and weather conditions aside, the area, generally, was somewhat in a rut in terms of the vineyard and wine making practices. Still, it was what I cut my teeth on and this wine resonates.
  
  The flavours and aromas may be classical Bordeaux, but the structure would probably wreak an amount of havoc, tasted blind. It isn't that it lacks finesse as it heads into its 3rd decade, it is that it just seems a bit too ripe in its tannins and I can see how someone might go to Tuscany (as one reviewer on this site mentions). But the dried herbs and other elements of even Super Tuscan Bordeaux varietals are not present. In the end it is itself, inspired by Bordeaux, true to the variety and for me it was summed up this line from a song I like:

  February 28, 2022 - Tasted double blind. Classic left-bank Bordeaux nose, cedar, cassis and graphite. A touch above medium-bodied, still with some toothsome tannins, wonderful balance and length. Excellent.

  June 29, 2020 - people who follow Yodamark and know me will know my love of Mossy. and my love in particular of the 95. this was the first year post the "reserve" program, ( 94 being the last) and so everything went into this wine coupled with a cracker vintage. i just do not know where to start on this wine. it was still purple in parts and very dense. it was jammed pack with Cassis, Black fruit and blue fruit , sweet earthy undertones underpinned with wonderful length and an incredibly rich mouthfeel. simply a stunning, decadent , opulent drop that at 25 years of age is still no where near its peak and will motor for 50 years easily. its downright amazing. gave me a woody...! Glad i still have 5 more bottles.

  June 26, 2020 - Served blind. Thought Italian Cabernet. Dark in the glass. Ripe. The warmth of the climate is evident. Still structure and tannins remain. Black fruits. Slight green finish. Has life ahead of it yet. Shared by Anad
