January 17, 2023 - One of the best examples of McLaren Vale shiraz I have had. In perfect form with time on it's side also. Clean, long and very generous without being too ripe. The 2010 vintage of this wine is rather spectacular, at least at this point in time.

May 9, 2021 - Screwcap, 14.5% alc. Very opaque dark red-black. The rim shimmers with brightness.

Needs some time to open up but then displays a powerful nose of cherry, blueberry, iron, chocolate, dried herbs, fresh earth, and star anise.

A dense wall of fruit slams the palate upon entry. Though plentiful, yet fine kittens tongue tannins provide a good foil for the fruit, and the wine remains beautifully balanced. Length of flavour is the only criticism; after the initial palate impact, the wine finishes almost abruptly with a nutty oak feel.

Opinion: This bottle hasn’t really convinced me of the long-term ageing potential of this wine, owing to that clipped finish. Having said that, it completely destroyed a 2012 Mike Press Shiraz consumed alongside it as far as interest is concerned. Watch with caution. Try again in 3 years.

April 29, 2018 - magnificent, fruit still primary. Dark black fruits, black plums, dark rocks, charcoal and wonderfully slatey mineral feel. The fruit sings but is followed by deep wonderfully brooding savoury dark earthen back end. Lovely and fruitful, silty ripe tannin. Balance impeccable. What a beaut wine.

September 13, 2017 - This got really big scores e.g. Gary Walsh gave it 96 and said it was the best Shiraz he'd had all year. Halliday gave it 96 too. I don't see it. It's nice enough, with some dark fruit, and plenty of dusty earth, olive, black tea. The palate is fine, with firm tannins. The finish has something I can't quite place, but which I'm not a fan. Loads of sediment. This is not your typical McLaren Vale Shiraz. Will suit some people - didn't wow me. Tried over two nights.

January 2, 2017 - Deep dark red, finely grained tannins, very well balanced fruit and acid, developing some softness but still plenty left in the tank. No rush on this one. Nice well structured McLaren Vale Shiraz
