  July 19, 2015 - Translucent and seemingly light with fine velvety tannins, this exotic blend of Nebbiolo and Pinot Nero manages to show some weight at only 12.5% alc. Aromatics are very pretty. Cherries, raspberries, lavender, licorice, and rosemary notes take shape in the glass. It is a ludicrous value at $16. 91+ points.

  January 23, 2014 - 12.5% alc. Had over 2 nights. PnP and PnV on 1st night -- surprisingly fresh, soft & lovely in its approach. Held up nicely into 2nd night & bit more developed in a good way, yet showing early shades that it was beginning to become oxidized toward final pour from the bottle. Strikingly reminds me of the Terre Nere Etna Rosso, more so on the palate. Complex nose of red cherry and strawberry with hints of tar/charcoal, herbs and earth. Later with more air and into 2nd night turned toward juicier berry notes with cedar and spice. Palate was dry and earthy with flavors of tart red cherry & strawberry, herbs, and lavender. Nicely balanced with medium acidity, super fine chewy tannins, and a velvety moderate finish. Great QPR and highly recommend.

  June 4, 2012 - This is bloody delightful. An 80/20 blend of chiavennasca (local for nebbiolo) and pinot nero, why didn't I think of that? Blending Barolo and Burgundy sounds like a drunkard's dream if I ever did see one, but this works! Color a transparent light red, nose shouts out with ripe cherry, roasted coffee, leather, and lurking tar. Very light on its feet to drink, with ripe fruit in the mouth, the gentlest of nebbiolo tannins, good mountain acidity and a lingering finish. Only 12.5% alcohol makes it a marvel of modern winemaking. I've long admired this producer for their elegant and sophisticated sforzatos, so it's no real surprise they could do wonders at the other end of the spectrum. Swell.
