September 29, 2019 - One hour of air. Still some fruit, ruby color. Enjoyable bottle.

April 19, 2013 - Color: A lovely, warm, brick-crimson with hues of cognac.

Nose: A high-octane blast of alcohol, followed by spice and floral rose notes, mellowing finally into vanilla, coriander and orange. As it opens, the nose just keeps revealing more layers of complexity: limoncello, raspberry liqueur, anise, peppercorn and cinnamon.

Taste: Strong blackberry and cassis flavors with tons of spice and a healthy dose of cranberry acid zing. Vanilla sweetness and tobacco into the finish, with a lingering, substantial mouthfeel. The major flaw here is that, at 14.5%, the alcohol profile overwhelms. At many moments this tasted more like a cordial than a wine.

March 25, 2012 - 2012 Rhone Rangers Grand Tasting (San Francisco, Fort Mason Festival Pavillion): Dark cherry, and anise aromas. Light-medium bodied and fresh with slightly tart dark cherry, and spice flavors
