February 28, 2015 - Deep dark color and a great nose. Velvety feel with lots of earth tones. Delicious.

May 29, 2012 - So dark, it could be mistaken for a Petit Sirah. Lots of heady aromas of smoked bacon, toast and graphite. Rich velvety palate with flavors of plums and blackberry jam with smooth tannins. Could have used a bit more acidity to offset the fruit, but otherwise very good.

9/28/2011 (link) **** points(Purple Star Syrah Columbia Valley) Dark in color, staining the glass. Aromatically appealing with smoke, char, an underlayer of spice, blueberry, and cooked egg. The palate is silky and textured, with thick fruit flavors. An extremely enjoyable wine that is an unusual find at this price point. 100% Syrah. Olsen Vineyard (95%) and Kiona. Aged 18 months in French oak (35% new). 14.4% alcohol. 378 cases produced. Sample provided by winery.
