August 6, 2020 - Tung's Birthday (Monkey Year Wines) (Aoki Restaurant, Shaw House, Singapore): Surprisingly alive for a 1992 wine, this was a charmer. The nose was really mature andlovely, with old Burg notes of damp earth, sous bois and meaty funk floating amidst sweeter tones of dried raspberries and strawberries, and then a touch of herb and dried florals. Very nice. The palate was surprisingly alive, with fresh acidity and fine tannins forming a nice backdrop for pure, transparent flavours of sweet cherries and red cherries seasoned with lovely bits warm spice and gentle mineral. Absolutely delicious, and really surprisingly full and creamy for a 1992 red, with a long full finish to boot. Great stuff. Probably time to drink up though.

May 15, 2017 - medium dark red, merest hint brown at edge. powerful, firm, smoky-earthy nose with strong griotte tone and a touch of leather; fruit is quite bright, a tad too cleaned up for my taste; some flowery hints emerge with air, mingled with mineral touches and a slight whiff of barnyardiness; extremely harmonious overall. fairly rich, bit sappy taste with some harshness but a fine deep resonance. very long, reverberant, mostly quite pleasant remains, but some harsh dried leaves touches. remarkably good for such a mediocre vintage.

Burgundy-Report

(Dujac Clos St.Denis) A medium, quite mature colour. The nose starts deep, stemmy and interesting - over the next two hours it goes from strength to strength, with red berries, mineral notes of pencil lead, occasional caramel or cream etc., etc. - it was first class. In the mouth I expected it would have little chance of competing with the aromatics and so it turned out - but it was still a worthy choice. Not the density of of a grand cru from most (recent) vintages, medium bodied with very slightly elevated acidity, but as the wine developed and became sweeter this was hardly noticeable. The faintest hint of tannin remains and the wine never withered in 2 hours, rather it became more interesting and complex. This is mature, reasonably long and tasty. Nine from ten for the nose and more like seven for taste. Lovely.
