December 5, 2013 - This wine spent 60 months(!) in new french oak barrels, so I was expecting some kind of an oak monster. Decanted for 1 hour. On the nose rather vibrant spicy aromas, cinnamon and bark. Some red fruit as well. Overall a decent nose. Medium bodied, smooth tannic grip, delivering a mix of gentle spicy flavors and some cinnamon and oak with the discreet red fruit behind.Quite oaky and quaffable now but with more cellartime the barrel flavors could integrate nicely.

March 31, 2012 - Fruity nose shows red berries, plum, hint of cassis with a smidgeon of cinnamon. Palate shows cassis, blue berries, licorice with medium tannins, medium finish.

March 31, 2012 - South African Wines (Next Wood Fired Bistro & Vino Bar): Bell pepper and spice on the nose, with dark fruit and tobacco at the end. Rich on the palate, with dark fruit and chocolate, some green vegetables and spice on the mid-palate, and a nice tobacco finish.
