January 6, 2024 - Layered scents come packed with blackberry, cassis and plum notes that are accompanied by details of pepper, mountain herbs, warm stone, forest floor and hints of leather, mocha, cigar box and cedar.
On the palate the wine is medium-plus in body, alcohol, acidity and tannins all in working in harmony, the tannins have smoothed out and taken ripe distinction. Flavors follow the nose showing blackberry, cherry, cassis and plum notes that come with pepper, herbs, leather, cocoa coffee, cedar and earth tones. Easy and plush thorough the long finish

    December 26, 2017 - Decanted.
Still youthful on the nose showing aromas of cassis, plum, black cherry, fig and blackberry that weave into notes of cocoa, herbs, cigar box, crushed violets, vanilla, charred oak and hints of no.2 pencil, rocky mineral, new leather and coffee.
Bold and alive on the palate still showing good thrust with a freshness in acidity and fruit. Tannins are firm, grippy and moderate-plus, acidity is moderate-plus and bright while alcohol and density are both moderate. Flavors of cassis, plum, dark cherry, blackberry and fig are well integrated with thyme, mountain sage, rosemary, chocolate, vanilla, cedar, toast, baking spice, black pepper, leather, meat and earth. The finish is bold and plays out at length.

Overall- Drinking great with air time. Still young and can stand another decade+

February 11, 2016 - Drinking really well. Wish I had another bottle or two.

    October 15, 2015 - Decanted for 4+ hours.
Dark garnet, opaque through the core, lightening as it approaches the rim with no color variation. Legs show medium-plus staining. Bright/day bright reflections.
Aromas pushing towards high intensity with scents of cherry that borders on dry and fresh, cassis, vanilla, pencil shavings, cigar box, wild thyme and herbs, ripe blackberry, drying flowers and plum with ancillary notes of cigar, leather and chocolate.
An opulent, rich palate showing its pedigree. Tertiary notes starting to peak out but overall still showing youthfulness. Cherry, cassis, plum and blackberry along with herbs and flowers all show a range between the fresh and dried spectrum. Vanilla, toasty oak, leather and chocolate flavors unfold as well. The finish is long and smooth. This should continue to develop nicely.

May 13, 2012 - A dark red core that fades to a watery rim. Viscosity is high leaving thick legs slowly falling down the glass.
After decant strong cedar aromas frame black plum, dark berries, vanilla and chocolate ganache notes, as well bit of heat from the alcohol.
The rich palate is luscious and full bodied. Flavors of cassis, plum, dark cherry and currant, are met with oaky, nutty nuances. Espresso and fig flavors round out the flavor profile. The mid palate is rich with sweet fruit and moderate acid. Tannins are ripe and plush, and push through the long finish.
Should cellar well. Can't wait to see how this will evolve with bottle age
