November 15, 2023 - Nose: Soft and mild black plum, Christmas spices like cinnamon and clove. Palate. Light raspberry, floral honeycomb, silky tannins.

September 14, 2022 - Chapelle de la Mission is a blend of 69% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc and 19% Cab Sauv, and displays a muted nose with plum, chocolate and soft tannins with juicy acidity.

There are hints of pepper before the medium finish lingers

Vines are grown on stony soil in Graves, Pessac-Leognan, over an area is over 52 acres located between the two portions in Pessac and Léognan.

Jean-Philippe Delmas runs both Haut-Brion as well as its sister estate, La Mission Haut-Brion and is the 3rd generation to do so; He follows in the footsteps of his father, Jean-Bernard, and his grandfather, Georges!

Mind you, it is actually the Dillon family who owns Haut-Brion, who decides who runs the estate. As Delmas descibes how he got this dream job.. "It’s got nothing to do with fate or destiny."

Thanks to @Joe Yee Wong for spoiling us with this bottle in our "special" happy hour with Duck confit, Steaks and Frites!

July 17, 2021 - It was highly recommended for a drink now; and it delivered!. Initially, quite shy; and I should have given it 1 hour + decant. It had all the La Mission Trademark aromatics (smoke embers, menthol, gravel/terroir) with no greenness. Red Rasberry and early season red cherries. Same carried thru the palate; but had this really, medium bodied drinkability that was inviting and gives one a sigh once the bottle finished. My second bottle; I will age another year or two.

June 7, 2021 - Decanted for a good hour and a much needed affair at this stage of the wines life. This wine is good proof that in the end good producers managed to beat the 2011 vintage. Bright and young and energetic and took its time to develop. Good wine especially when one need something to hold its own with big food like BBQ and worked very well with ours. Very solid and and at the start of its drinking window. 90+
