December 15, 2020 - Firing on all cylinders, this beauty from winemaker Chris Howell is a lovely example of a Bordeaux blend made with fruit from the Napa Valley 'benchlands' (at the feet of the valley mountains): 50% Cabernet Sauv, with Cab Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot. The Merlot seemed more prominent. Bacon fat on the nose, then cheries and mocha for a long finish. Its at a great place to consume. Its been a tough year for the folks at Cain Vineyards, open this to celebrate their good work.

October 17, 2020 - Disappointing on first sip, but it underwent an amazing transformation after 20 minutes or so in the glass. We decanted due to a crumbled cork, but strongly advise doing so and letting it breathe for a half hour before serving.

October 6, 2019 - Subtle, took a good 90 mins to open up and show a little structure. Lovely fruit, not much by way of secondary flavors. Enjoyable.

May 14, 2019 - Medium ruby red. Dusty and rich nose with blackberries, minerality, cranberries and baking spices. Medium plus tannins (7/10) and full bodied. A lot more integrated then last time. Layered with dark cherries, graphite, cherry liqueur and some gravel. Drink till 2025.

January 5, 2019 - Subtle, tannins nearly fully resolved, nice secondary flavors. Time to drink.
