February 8, 2020 - Cherry cola. Kistler has changed its style since the old days, old and new style both good in their own ways.

January 30, 2020 - Can't add much more than it is almost Cab like, super concentrated. This can work with steak.

August 24, 2019 - Despite this not being my preferred style - I have to admit this was actually quite tasty. Super ripe and concentrated dark red fruits, pretty perfume on the nose - but lots of fresh acidity that keeps the fruit from going over the top. Somehow I am kind of reminded of a cherry jolly rancher - fruity, sweet and tart all at the same time.

June 16, 2019 - Enjoyed at a friend's house. A magical wine- somehow both explosive/lifted with gobs of fresh dark fruit, cassis, plum, black cherry, but also subtle and gentle, with light oak spice, woodsmoke, wet stone minerals, and present but entirely integrated tannin and acidity. It's easy to throw around "balance" when describing wine, but this is truly balanced on all fronts. It still absolutely feels young, but not too young.

The average price on wine searcher is listed as well over $200, and the best price I could find around us is $175. So, quite a bit even for this- even the great Rhys pinots come nowhere close to that price (although I did think this was a little better than their Alpine vineyard from around the same vintage.) So I'm not entirely convinced of the QPR, but it was truly fantastic. If you have some, be sure to drink them slowly to allow the fruit notes to fully blossom.

May 19, 2019 - Wonderful. Full flavor in the mouth but not overtly fruity. incredibly smooth. Happily surprised since I've not had a Kistler pinot this old before.
