June 18, 2018 - The nose was intense, and remarkably youthful, showing citrus infused peach tones, hints of ginger, sage, rosemary, smoky minerality, and just a hint of pecorino cheese and almond to reveal its age. It was lively on the palate, displaying sweet stone fruits offset by lemony citrus, savory herbs, and a mouthwatering acid-mineral mix. Vibrant acidity seemed to buzz on the finish lingering on minerals and tart apple tones. If you own a 2011 Gemina #chardonnay then you owe it to yourself to open one and check it out in this perfect drinking window.

March 21, 2017 - Patience has paid off with the 2011 Gemina. Here I found a rich and soothing bouquet of baked pear, with stone dust minerality, young mango, yellow flowers, and the slightest hint of lime zest. On the palate, a zesty display of green apple with a spritz of tangerine, and caking minerality was backed by mouthwatering acidity, yet remained wonderfully soft in textures. It finished remarkably fresh with cleansing acidity, a zing of lime citrus, and inner florals. This is a gorgeous example of evolution in bottle.

October 19, 2012 - Lunch at Bourbon Steak (Bourbon Steak - Washington, DC): This was one of those Californian chardonnays that spoke to its Burgundian roots. The aromas had the salty Chablisian edge to it, while the palate had the lushness and flintyness of Puligny.

October 18, 2012 - A great wine. We generally do not like Chardonnay at all, but this is so very unique vs your typical Chardonnay. Not much to add vs the previous reviews and bummed I have to wait for the '12 before I can try again.

October 1, 2012 - 100% chardonnay in this vintage, sourced from the Hyde vineyard in Carneros. A beautifully poised wine. Understated rather than flamboyant, oozing class and elegance. Lemon, honey, cream and citrus peel on the nose. On the palate, nice amount of acid combined with a lanolin/smoky/creamy quality that reminded me wonderfully of an aged chardonnay (though this is a very young wine). The finish is long with hints of pear and mineral. Paired it with an italian white bean, basil and heirloom tomato salad and it was a knock-out. I bought only one. Now have to wait ONE WHOLE YEAR to restock. Curses. 13.6 abv
