Community Tasting Notes 1

January 4, 2024 - Bought on release as a pre-order after a tasting with the importer. Original notes are handwritten somewhere (found . Kept in below grade cellar with minor temp variation and humidity controlled with periodic sloshing of water onto the concrete floor and later in a stand alone temp controlled cellar. No ullage. Cork was saturated but firm and came out intact. Minimal sediment but decanted and consumed over a couple of hours in Riedel Sommeliers Burgundy Grand Cru (always worry about breakage) and compared to consumption in a Riedel Vinum Pinot Noir Glass (my usual for Pinot). Color was a pale garnet with slight fading at the edge. Nose was perfumed to slight soft red fruits; raspberry and cherry. Long finish throughout the palate. In the mouth there were similar notes. In the Sommelier glass the acidity was perfectly balanced with the fruit. In the Vinum, the acidity was a bit much. The wine didn't necessarily evolve in the glass or decanter, but it didn't degrade over the the couple of hours that we enjoyed it. Drinking very well now. Probably the last time I consumed this was 15 or more years ago. Paired with Muscovy Hen Duck Breast from Beck & Bulow. Seared on the stovetop and finished in a 400 degree oven to medium rare. Also garlic mashed potatoes with red potatoes and garlic from the garden. Yummy. Chose this from the cellar with my daughter, who is into wine and just purchased a SLB Premier Cru, Les Charnieres, 2020 vintage from Capitain-Gagnerot (which she loved at a tasting, but I had thought was a bit harsh in the mouth, although a lovely nose.)
