December 31, 2023 - Opened early this morning, at about 7 hours of slow-O this wine was a mess, drying wood tannins on entry, boullion and soy in the mid palate. But a few hours later it turned itself around and was quite a lovely experience. Perhaps there is still a tiny inflection of oak in the spicy, firm entry, but the wine is complete, well structured with a good acidic spine, red fruited, and some of the classic rose-inflected-with-red iron notes appear in the bouquet and the finish. Perhaps the oak was not entirely resolved, but this wine was more similar than dissimilar to the memorable 1989s and1990s of yore, and a highly enjoyable, heady experience-- paired superbly with braised shortribs and pureed parsnips (that I should not discuss with my cardiologist)

January 13, 2023 - B&B lunch at Bar Cicheti. Tasted blind. Drank in Conterno Sensory.
    Thick sediment. Pale garnet colour.
Nose pronounced caramel and soy sauce.
Felt like an over the hill 1996 Barolo to me.

December 25, 2022 - On the top, raisins in the nose. Very nice ripe, smooth nebbiolo.

December 23, 2022 - Not decanted but aired out in the burg stems for about 40 minutes or so. This was a good wine. The nose I had some trouble with though. It seemed tired and out of gas. But… it did gain traction eventually, sporting some brown sugar and soy, but it lacked the roses and other perfumed notes that make aged Barolo so special. I never could really get past the nose to be honest. Which is a shame because the palate was pretty dang tasty, loaded with layered dark cherry fruit that was very pleasant in its mouthfeel and overall enjoyment. I’d drink up if you are sitting on these.

August 14, 2022 - Aging well, still dark garnet/ruby with minimal bricjking and fruit filled nose, although stored in temp controlled wine cellar since 2006. After 1 hour of air opened up nicely with good complexity and thoroughly enjoyable. If stored well easily another 5 years in these.
