October 14, 2021 - A very impressive showing, especially for a normale. Seemingly at peak, with rich dark fruit well-balanced by herbal and floral notes along with ample spice and anise. Not the most complex, but flat-out delicious.

Love it or leave it! 91/100 vvPunkte. Jetzt bis 2030.

June 5, 2018 - Red cherry and strawberry flavours, with herbs, tobacco and earth. Softening tannins with good depth of flavour and length. Very enjoyable and no crime drinking it now.

February 16, 2017 - Curious to check in on this bottle of '08, I opened one because I anticipated a pairing with a dish we were having this evening.

Effusive red fruit, wafting aromas as it went into the decanter. On pop n' pour, nicely developed tannins, and quite approachable at this stage. Well balanced ripeness of fruit with tertiary elements of dried herbs and meaty, earthy tones. Overall a wonderful impression at opening, lovely style.

Somewhat surprisingly after a few hours in the carafe, alcohol tones started to predominate, setting the whole picture a little out of balance. A curious showing. I'm guessing that I may revisit my next bottle of the '08 in 4-5 years.

January 29, 2014 - Writing this review having finished the last of my dozen half-bottles of this vintage, drunk over a period of about 3 months. There was a good consistency amongst all the bottles. The nose is rather sweet: honey and honey-comb or the aroma of home-made sugar caramel is the best way to describe it, not too much fruit. Palate is very light but not in a particularly bad way, it is fresh with fleeting glances of barely ripe (but not sour) strawberries with underlying liquorice and enough tannin to keep it all together. Medium finish. I would categorise this as a well-priced Barolo for carefree summer drinking together with a light supper of simple charcuterie and pasta. Recommended.
