October 8, 2022 - Riesling and Pinot Noir Lunch (Sun Wah - Chicago IL): Double blind at Riesling/ Pinot Noir lunch. I last had this wine 3 years ago and thought it was starting to mature/ fade then. I was right. Even more so three years later.

February 3, 2020 - Medium ruby. Earthy, white pepper, with a pleasant bare touch of barnyard funk. Deep and quite complex. It really sang on the second night, continuing into the third. This exceeded expectations, and we are happy to have a couple more.

April 29, 2019 - Fine Vines Warehouse Tasting (Fine Vines - Melrose Park IL): Walk around tasting, brief note. Black fruit is maturing gracefully with tannins still asserting themselves. I thought this was slightly better a few years back.

December 2, 2018 - Duck for Days Pinot Noir WX+ Meetup (Sun Wah Chinese BBQ): Also one of the stand outs from the evening for me. This was also because there were so many full rich New World bottles in attendance - not that I'm complaining.
Rustic qualities. Nice soft raspberries spice and some underlying earth. I feel it is drinking well now though will develop a bit more. Everyone liked how this was showing and it was fun to taste side by side with the 2010 Bouchard Le Corton. It was split as to the preference. I liked them equally for different reasons but I'd prefer to drink the Corton again. The Champy was elegant and supple.

January 21, 2017 - Saturday night blinds (Chez Nanda, Chicago IL): Nose: The nose is robust and balanced with dark red cherries, violets, earth tones, plums, raspberries, and smokey notes. This shows off good purity and balance with good depth to boot.

Taste: Medium bodied with medium+ acidity medium+ tannins. The tannins are quite youthful and are on the chewy side. The feel is well balanced along with dark red cherries, earth tones, plums, and raspberries.

Overall: While this can be drunk now, it's still extremely young. There is certainly room for development over the next 3-5 years and the materials are there for this to get better.
