November 12, 2022 - Always fun to drink a birth year wine, and this was surprisingly still alive. Maybe just on the other side of peak, but there's a rea liveliness here. A bit heavy on the pyrazines (maybe a health dose of cab franc?), but adds a welcome freshness at this age for my palate.

July 23, 2022 - Drinking perfectly now. Nicely mature. Classic Bordeaux nose of cedar black fruits and some dirt and leather. Needed about 2 hours open and really fleshed out. Great sweet black fruits, leather, great mineral hints, still had some nice tannic structure and nice acidity. Just an outstanding bottle.

January 3, 2021 - Wine had begun to turn to vinegar. Purchased at auction from The Chicago Wine Company, so provenance unknown. However, the bottle showed very obvious signs of old seepage which were not disclosed by the auction house. I am no longer doing business with this retailer on their secondary-market wines as my ‘hit rate’ on these purchases is now below 20%.

July 14, 2016 - The cork was full of white mold, so I was thinking it would be OK. When I pulled it, it was soaked almost to the top. A little worried. Nose, classic left bank Bordeaux. Full of espresso, mocha and black currant. On the palate the fruit is still alive and sweet. No signs of over development. Even the color is cherry red. Finish is of mid length. A wine at this price should be dead by now. Truly outstanding effort at this price point.

January 10, 2016 - A bit funkier than my last bottle. I agree with the last review. This is a feminine wine. It's mellowing down and aging gracefully as well.
Day 2: This turned around completely the next day. Left it in my platypus overnight and the next day it was fuller, more rounded and the fruit popped. It seemed more concentrated. Note to self: This may need to spend some time in the decanter to show better.
