  June 20, 2013 - 11 years past its drinking window, virtually no nose except alcohol and oak (still?). Amazingly nice, relatively deep color, no bricking. Off on the mid-palate, short finish. Not terrible, but not right either. Cellartracker and taking the time to inventory is revealing all kinds of past their prime surprises from a previous wine buying era.

  April 7, 2013 - Definitely over the hill, but had some limited amount of fruit left. Turned out to be fairly pleasant to drink after an extended time aired (5-6 hrs). Time to drink!!!

The nose was somewhat tight with olives, plum and tar with a little VA that never quite blew off. The wine gave up better flavors than bouquet, what with olives, cedar, raspberry and some bitter chocolate on the finish. But in between the raspberry and the interesting finish of bitter chocolate was a load of green bell pepper that appeared as the wine warmed. Yet it also unfortunately had a hot finish with the alcohol really out of balance here. This scored a 3 only b/c when it was on, it was a pleasant little wine, but when the VA, hot and green pepper were present, it pulled the wine down. With grilled pepper rubbed rib-eye. 9/04.
