October 28, 2023 - From a perfect looking magnum, this wine had a deep red center and orange/clear rims. The nose didn’t show much for a couple hours but the it displayed medium intensity notes of sour cherries, red dust soil, raspberries, and a hint of tobacco.
In the mouth, this wine was rather light at first but developed beautifully in the glass. After 5 hours of air, It had light “powdery” tannins, crisp acidity, luscious fruit, and great, sneaky length.
This wine was in the zone! Arguably 97 points. -

October 17, 2021 - Spectacular bottles. Both in excellent condition. Super tertiary notes. Some earth, faint leather and menthol. Needed a good 2 hours in the caraffe to open up. What an experience!

August 13, 2021 - From magnum. Varied earth tones here. Still chewy tannins. Dark floral notes underneath. Could have benefited from more bottle age or a longer decant

January 1, 2018 - Decanted 5 hours and consumed over another 2 hours. Lighter red in color. Signature Bartolo perfume of leather, soy, umami, saddle with some celery and fennel as well. Like all great Bartolo's the perfume jumps out of the glass and even the when the glass is empty it retains nearly all of intensity of the aroma of the wine. Nicely complex palate with consistent notes from the nose. Lots of leather and saddle. A classic bottle.
