Community Tasting Notes 4

October 5, 2022 - Translucent red with faint browning. Pleasant, earthy, cherry aromas. Sharp edged on the palate, cherries, strawberries. Seems a bit faded. Fine tannins, sharp acidity, good balance. Finishes moderately long, black cherries, spicy. Past prime but still drinkable. I wouldn't wait on these if you have any.

December 26, 2021 - This was from the first two years or so, when Scott Wright made his wines in California. Light reddish-brown color, translucent. The nose is light, red-fruited and a bit spicy. Palate largely follows the nose. Light with cherry, strawberry, spice and a bit of a brown sugar note. Very fine tannins, lovely acidity, nice balance. Finishes moderately long and spicy. Surprisingly pleasant if clearly past prime. It's a bit thin at this point. Drink up.

January 22, 2011 - Scott Paul for early 2000 Burgs, Eyrie, and Vista Hills: Maybe I shouldn't be allowed to note wines like these. Someone probably likes this style, it's just not me. This smells like California Pinot Noir (and I didn't even realize it actually was). It's almost like a fruit reduction with alcohol; like a port on the nose. Very fruit forward on the palate. This doesn't show its age at all, really. That's the best thing I could say about it, though. It's nearly hot on the finish, and just way too fruity and extracted for my tastes.

December 8, 2007 - Blueberry, sour cherry and some lifted acidity. Shows a riper side, too.
