May 29, 2010 - decent bordeaux but nothing special

June 16, 2009 - Opened bottle nearly six hours before writing this note.

Still very dark, dense purple. Nearly opaque from the core up. I was expecting a much lighter color but I guess the strong color after nine years is a sign of the vintage. The rim is just starting to turn ruby. Nose is clean and slightly above medium intensity. Dominating smells include pepper and black olive. Secondary smells were toast, currant, violets and maybe mushroom. Mouthfeel is dry, slightly bitter with a very silky, lush and creamy mouthfeel and not hot at all in the mouth. Not very rustic, but by no means is this a new world example of Bordeaux. Low tannins at this point, but still leaves a dry feeling in the mouth. Other smells in mouth include tobacco and there is a also a noticeable minerality to this wine. Medium finish, and noticing that minerality. Overall, this wine is has a medium to full body in the mouth (with that silkymouthfeel), a smooth texture, slight complexity with all the different smells and medium finish. I would say at this point it's in balance.

Spectator was correct in saying best after 2008. It took six hours of an open bottle for this wine to start showing nicely. Drink now or hold.

February 22, 2009 - This is finally ready to drink. Took nine years for a second wine but now this was very nice. Light medium body but real nice. I will drink my two remaining bottles of the next 2 years.

May 18, 2008 - Packed with black fruits as befits the vintage. Nice and earthy, good minerality and acidity. Alcohol noticeable towards the ends, but only slight. Midpalate could be stronger, but overall, a good solid very enjoyable Bordeaux for the short money I paid.

August 26, 2007 - Decent Bordeaux, not the level the last bottle had but still 4 or 5 years to go with room for improvement.
