Community Tasting Notes 5

June 17, 2014 - Clear, ruby red, with only slight indications of maturing colour towards the rim.
Nose: Earthy nose with blackcurrant, blackberries and blueberries. Earthy rather than rustic and quite a lot of fruit coming through.
Taste & palate: Medium body, marked tannins and again the blackberry and blueberries fruit, with some blackcurrant coming through. A little rustic but a "juicy" and tasty 16 year old.
Stored well, this wine should keep well for another 2-4 years, although I don't think it will gain much in complexity, just possibly in maturity. I think it's drinking nicely now.

January 26, 2010 - Earth and barnyard on the nose. The fruit is starting to dry out and the tannins seems well integrated. Drink now.

November 13, 2008 - Still concentrated, still tannic, but the fruit is giving away and it is now nice to drink compared to the first bottle a few years ago. Waiting 2 years for the next. I found berries and anise.

November 4, 2008 - My final bottle. Good but not fresh and the alcohol is almost gone. Some secondary aroma is there, but is still dominated by primary fruit. The previous bottle (about a year ago) was far better, lively and still strong. Not sure if this is simply bottle variation, or if it is past its peak?

March 31, 2008 - Starting to mature. Slight brown colour, earth and barnyard on the nose, becoming more complex with air. Fine fruit and solid tannins, but softer than last time I tasted this wine two years ago.
