October 8, 2023 - Vinøs hyttetur 2023: Blind. Lys, noe grums, roser, anstrøk av minralitet, frisk og intens i munnen, kunne vært lengre. Munn langt bedre enn nese.

February 17, 2023 - 98 pts. Garnet red with orange rims. Wonderful complex still lots of fruits but balsamic notes some tobacco and cigarbox. Full bodied sweet tannins and extremely long finish. Ripe but no hurry needed

December 7, 2022 - Lovely aromatics, roses, bacon.
Soft sweet fruit on the palate, acidic frame with a saline savoury character, lovely balance.
Resolved tannins, very complete and harmonious wine. Gorgeous.

August 7, 2022 - Stellar wine. Completely balance. Nothing out of place. Rose petals, light earth, hints of cherry and strawberry. Beautiful wine.

October 8, 2021 - A Tour de Force 'Best Bottle' Tasting (Republique, Los Angeles): The second of two bottles bought as part of an old cellar, and I cheekily brought it to pair with a promising 1958 Mascarello despite the first one having been pretty much DOA. We were in luck, indeed. The color was very, very light, almost transparent. Nonetheless, there was a lot of life here, with evolving notes of balsam, tar, smoke, and some tart acid adding lift to the restrained red berry fruit. There was reasonable structure, too, and I would describe this as a mediumweight wine. As with the 1958, there was no decant here, and the best sip was the last. I would have loved to linger with this one.

February 1, 2021 - My first of a pair of recently acquired bottles, evidently well stored and in excellent condition. The cork was easily extracted intact, revealing a wonderfully typical nose of dried cherries, tar and rose petals. The palate was correct and echoed those notes, but there was no acidity or structure to speak of, making the wine best enjoyed using olfactory senses.

December 8, 2020 - Uncorked 12 hours prior to serving into 薄はり葡萄酒器 (“Fruit” day): Pale bright ruby with bricking rim.

Lots of detailed red cherries, undergrowth, truffle, animale. Dried herbs, spices. Superb conditions, ethereal.

Mid-palate expansion, spices on the finish. Incredibly textured and very high flavour density.

    95 points easy.

Tons of ripe tannins still, more liquorice on nose with time in glass.

Third round more earthy and truffle notes. Amazing seaweed and cinnamon.

Zen-like harmony, incredible showing of this producer.

    Reserved for longer term observations.

October 24, 2019 - 2015 Burlotto and others (67 Pall Mall): Not going to give this a rating - it was perfectly drinkable, but some combination of oxidation and transport made it very muddy in colour, and very tertiary. Reminded me of a 1932 marsala I had recently. We enjoyed drinking it, but I can't rate it comparatively with other wines.
