June 30, 2014 - I’m a big, big fan of Riesling. Probably the most under-appreciated wine in Australia (although there are signs of change). Back label says that the wine received some lees stirring…..interesting.

A pale straw colour in the glass. Not that expressive on the nose - very quiet. Citrus - yes. Maybe some honey? A quick taste - wow. Surprising, given the nose. Evident grapefruit flavours, plus some lime (zest I think, not cordial). Great length - leaves you salivating. Not totally bone dry but not far off - almost austere. Also, there is a dollop of creaminess, most prominent in the middle palate.

A different style of Riesling and better for it (my opinion). Should come with a warning sticker as may offend purists! Will age easily for the next 10 years or so I reckon.

May 23, 2012 - WXTP Tasting II (Beautiful Wines, The Plaza): Pretty decent. This had little nutty accents on the nose, along with a whiff of kerosene and a little touch of glycerol over a core of ripe lemon aromas. A big, heady nose - not sure I actually liked it that much here. On the other hand, while the palate was big and fleshy, it was actually a lot lighter on its feet than the nose would suggest, with bright flavours of lemons and lime petering out into an earthy, minerally finish with a lick of almost Chablis-like salinity. This had good depth and some power, but it was just disturbed a little by a touch of alcohol at the end. Nothing too major though - it was still a decent drink. I think it would have done better with some food as well. A good one to drink now or to hold for a few year.
