April 19, 2022 - 4/19/22 Vinum55 Phoenix BYOB Tasting (Vinum55 Phoenix): Med+ intensity, red and dark fruits, red and black cherry, cooked plum, red and black currant, bramble, herbaceous notes of green bell pepper, tomato leaf. Some tertiary development of tar and cooked fruit. Oak notes of cedar, baking spices, cloves. Med+ acid, med+ tannin, dry, full body, high alcohol, med+ finish. This is still fairly Californian in style, although it is quite closed off. Still fruit dominated and a bit imbalanced by acid and the spiciness. Structure is a little rigid and was not very balanced. I think this needs more time and is not ready to drink right now. The Spottswoode shows better than this right now. 89-90pt

March 9, 2021 - 92-93 is a fair score.....of the 3 Verite it was the 'weakest' in terms of fruit and overall structure. The nose had nice spice components but the wine overall seemed a tad hollow. Lacking depth and power. A very sublte bottle, well made but overall very subtle.

December 31, 2020 - This was my selection for the NYE dinner of 2020. I opened the night before and did not decant, it may have been a mistake but there is no way to tell now because I didn’t tasted it prior consumption. The body was medium, it had good acidity still and presence of tannins but it felt oxidased and weak on the fruit, lacking complexity. Despite we had if from a magnum it felt like the best days were behind it. Maybe a poorly storage bottle? Perhaps a quick decanting was the way to go...
In any case, descent but not to my expectations. -
