  February 18, 2018 - Small Champagne and Burgundy gathering (Eddie V's - Tysons Corner, VA): Sometimes Burgundy is really confusing. The last bottle drank from the same source was flirting with perfection. This bottle is very good but not great. Medium expressive nose displaying ripe red and black fruit, blackberry, cranberry drink, dark spices, a hint of sous bois, sasp and strong earth. Excellent concentration, nicely layered ripe blackberry and cranberry, good acidity, still noticeable tannins and a medium to long ripe black fruit and dark spices driven finish. IMO, Ponsot wines are always ripe and seldom express the purity and transparency. Nevertheless, this is really enjoyable.

  January 30, 2015 - Dinner with Charles M - 96 DP Oeno, 96 Dom Rose, 90 Margaux, 90 Mouline, 93 Ponsot Chambertin & etc. (The Grill Room at Capella Hotel Georgetown): Absolutely stunning showing. Explosive yet incredibly precise nose displaying decadent red and black fruits raspberry jelly, blackberries, dark spices, just right amount of sous bois, dark spices, black truffle and earth. Very precise and air palate, sweet dark fruit driven palate impression, beautiful balance and incredible long seamless finish. Perfectly mature GC burgundy with generous amount of fruits and lovely tertiary notes. Spectacular showing. I can savor this all day.
