Community Tasting Notes 4

March 8, 2017 - Drunk over two days. One of the finest bordelais blends in Italy, bar none - this benefits from the cool, moderate climate of the Colli Asolania in stark contrast with the sometimes baked notes one can find in Supertuscans. The nose is wonderfully mature and disciplined, with cedar, blackberry, sweet tobacco, cassis, polished wood, inkstone, and some plum liqueur. Solid, satiny, and very elegant on the palate. There is a bit Merlot plushness, but is neither fat nor invasive. The overall sensation is one of careful balance, with tannins perfectly tamed and the palate-cleansing acidity leading into a sustained, respectable finish. Again ample evidence that the Veneto terroir is well suited to bordelais grapes, infusing them with a very distinctive note. A wine worthy of sitting in the company of some esteemed Bordeaux. Drink now or hold another decade.
