February 22, 2024 - Love Cain wines, but this one was just past its optimal drinking window.

January 28, 2024 - Absolutely delicious. Definitely drinks like an older wine and approaching it's outer limits.
Plenty of baking spice & some yeast notes on the Aroma. Some dried figs as well.
Flavor is spiced blueberries with some licorice. Nice finish and velvet, pinpoint mouthfeel. A treat.

November 9, 2022 - Had to be replanted in 1990 I guess. Dark and ripe on the nose. A real black currant character to it. The vineyard voice is the loudest voice is the idea. Between 1995 and 2006 it wasn't all estate because of having to be replanted because of bad root stock. Crazy acidity to this. Mineral prickly. After 2006 they decided not to submit points and scores. If you come up they'll taste with you. And since 1995 no added yeast and no chemicals. Sometimes the wines have Brett. And from 1995 conversion to being farmed organically. And that took about 10 years.

Very long and complex on the palate. And balance. He never gives you everything in the first sip is the idea. Two years in barrel and two years in bottle and then they think about releasing it. Rather stunning noes Andrew. Super vibrant and energic. Tastes younger than it is.

October 26, 2022 - Cain Vineyard and Winery Winemaker Lunch (City Club FW): When we visited Cain in 2019, this was the library pour, and one of our favorites from our entire visit. This bottle, which had been open for several hours, but not decanted, had a slightly musty, barnyard, leathery nose, but plenty of red fruit under that. The palate had the good Cain vineyard fruit that is pure but not overwhelming. Some sour cherry (but fresh) with other red fruits on the palate. This is in a good spot, though maybe a little more brett than the others we had today.

November 14, 2020 - Elegant & refined. Much more Euro style than Napa. Peaking now. Drink and enjoy.
