April 25, 2021 - Deep ruby to deep red rim.
Inviting aromas of vanilla pod, clotted cream and in particular, a wealth of baking spices (from oak) couple with ripe red fruit: plum, raspberry and black cherry.
Expressive, the entry shows ripe red plum, dark (70%) chocolate, dried cherry and black cherry (black forest gateau), which places it firmly in the New World. Medium to full-bodied, the creamy texture reminds me of melted Galaxy chocolate bars. The dense, powdery tannins, super-ripe fruits and generous alcohol all seem balanced. There is a heft of extract and power but the lovely length that all seem to knit quite nicely together. -

February 22, 2021 - Possibly WOTY so far. Would love to see it in a blind line-up with some good Pomerol. Quite delicious

April 26, 2020 - 46% Malbec, 32% Merlot, 21% Cabernet Sauvignon, 1% Cabernet Franc. Deep ruby.
Intense vivid aromas of red and black fruits with a streak of vanilla, black cherry yoghurt and gentle spices.
A sweet entry, medium to full-bodied, the wine has good depth, concentration, and extended finish.
The tannins are firm and dense and coated in milk chocolate, mocha and a touch of liquorice.
A solid wine, not as complex as I expected at this stage but delicious. -

August 17, 2018 - Deep mulberry red.
Ripe intense aromas of red fruits, wild forest berries, dried spices, damson and Christmas cake.
Mid to full-bodied with a creamy plush texture showing lots of and mocha chocolate oak notes, melted Galaxy bar, red velvet cake, cinnamon and clove spice.
A very polished wine, the mid-palate shows generosity, good depth of flavour and excellant concentration. Clearly, a modern take, there is a good balance between the oak, fruit and gentle streak of acidity. The finish is long and filled with red liquorice, red plum, spice and fruit cake. More youthful than expected. As the wine opened further, there was a slightly drying element. -

May 27, 2017 - Inky red/black colour in the glass. Sweet black cherry aromas with hints of oak and chocolate. Concentrated dark berry fruits on the palate. Smooth, well balanced sweetness and acidity. Doesn't linger quite as long as the initial concentration suggests. Medium bodied but lacking a little in complexity. Drinking well now. Very good.
