October 26, 2023 - Nice balance to this wine, in light of the other wines from better vintages (2004 and 2010) from this producer Really like the dialed back body in medium form and think it adds some allure to the wine in contrast to the broody feel of 2004 and 2010. Again, heavy use of wood that is now pretty melted within, but the fruit is fighting for attention against the vanilla vibe coming from the wood. The fruit leans toward fresher stone fruit without having the cooked feel. Long, dry and vanilla tinged finish. Drink

July 16, 2022 - Light slightly rusty raspberry red, easy to see the bottom of the glass. Red cherries with a slightly medicinal note on the nose. Pure red cherries in what must have been a hot vintage. Tasty but not extraordinary.

July 31, 2021 - Deep cherry and tar, some saddle leather and sous bois. Nicely developed and integrated. Good combo of fruit, secondary and tertiary profiles

April 10, 2021 - It's rare that I stress the specific pairing of wines, but in this case I have to call it out. With a homemade meat-filled tortellini with a simple tomato sauce, this wine couldn't be more perfect. The acidity and twang of the Sangiovese married well with the dish, and the wine was ready to go with a brief decant. Frankly, it came off a lot more youthful than I had anticipated at this stage - more tertiary notes would have been great, but even still this was a pleasure with silky sour cherry, hints of spice, and an underlying savory note.
