October 2, 2021 - It pays to wait for this wine to come into its own. Very dry and tannic in its first few years of release so I wasn’t that impressed when it was part of a library sale last year - two bottles, in fact, in a mixed case assembled by the staff. Well, this wine is near perfect. It’s aged but quite fresh. The fruits have tipped over to the tertiary side, the tannins have smoothed out and the alcohol & acid are in balance. Medium-plus on every element - body, finish and concentration. Served blind alongside a Napa Cab (Cakebread), Left Bank Bdx (Phelan Segur) and Aussie (Cullen). This wowed everyone for what it was, where it came from and what it cost. WOTN.
