January 15, 2022 - Improved from last bottle opened in 2012. Mineral , flowers, yellow fruits, balanced between sweetness and acidity. Great Q/P

June 1, 2018 - Love me some good Kabinett, and this is good Kabinett. Minerally, bright, some nice pucker from the acidity. Merkelbach = QPR and this was a winner. Fresh, very clear in the glass. Served with a Thai-inspired dish and that worked. Enjoyable, high toned, clean. Good now but can also hold longer.

May 26, 2016 - I break with the pack here, as the price point is irrelevant. This wine has taken on greater complexity now, and while it will never be a great Zilliken or Prum, it stands shoulder to shoulder with many of the very nice 2011 kabinetten. Only a tiny bit sweet, it has rich fruit and petrol sensations and a mild orange/ apricot, vague floral character. Perfect for warm weather and with lighter fish.

January 6, 2014 - Similar experience to previous bottle. Very nice at this price point.

(Merkelbach Ürziger Würzgarten Riesling Kabinett) ($19.00) For newcomers to Merkelbach, these wines are vinified cask by cask, and each (so-called) fuder is numbered, and the wines are presented by fuder-number. The largest blending/holding tank in the cellar can only hold two fuders (each contains about 112 cases worth of wine), so there’s never a blend of more than two individual wines. Yes, such a thing still exists in our world. This Kabinett was dramatically the better of two options, complex and long, hyssop and blackberries. *
