December 20, 2020 - Sunday evening at Wimborne. Drank in Grassl Cru. Poured from decanter.
Appearance is clear, deep intensity, ruby colour. Legs.
Nose is clean, pronounced intensity, with aromas of leather, earth, integrated oak, dark red cherries, plum. Developing.
On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium+ alcohol (14%), integrated rounded high tannins, full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of dark red plums, dark red cherries, leather, earth, integrated oak, tar. Long finish.
Very good quality. Tannins have integrated and are in a good place already. Maybe just another 3-4 years of more development and this should be perfectly at peak. Lovely nose.
From the Cerequio cru in the commune of La Morra.

November 4, 2014 - Drank at a tasting where the wine was literally popped and poured so not shown in its best light. Nose was bit dumb but the palate was really good but tasted better on the night.

September 29, 2012 - A really great wine! Massive on the palate with fruit, licqourice, leather and quite prominent tannins. Definitely needs more time.

September 20, 2012 - Decanter Italy Tasting (London): Wow, what a nose, beguiling, floral, red fruit and a whiff of oak. Firm tannin wrapped around the light but insistent fruit, strawberry, vanilla and a splash of balsamic. Needs more time of course but this is a truly great wine.
