July 1, 2012 - Pure Barbera fruit but sophisticated thanks to spicy oak, it leaps out of the glass. A wonderful food wine. Barbera is generally more successful than other Italian varieties (Sangiovese, Aglianico, Nebbiolo) grown in CA. And, this is what we all wish Grenache would taste like, with more body and less thin pepperiness, vibrant fruit a la Beaujolais, not candied like RRV Pinot Noir, nor heavy and kirsch-like as many Rhone varietals and blends. Has the prettiness of some of the Alvaro Palacios Priorats.
