July 11, 2012 - Tomić tasting (Tomić tasting room, Jelsa, Hvar): The entry level Plavac Mali, the grapes used here are from the north side of the island close to Jelsa. The wine sees old oak. The wine had very typical Plavac Mali smells, lingonberry and a hint of lavender. Some tannins and good fruit, this is ready to go now.

May 15, 2012 - Ruby red colored, thick slow legs. Very nice fruity aroma as it opened, dark fruits like plum and dark berries. Flavor was robust, slightly bitter and acidic yet balanced with tasty tannic and wood (oak) notes over some plum fruitiness. Medium to full in body, smooth, with moderate finish, not too tannic as those heavy wines can be. Also, alcohol was nicely hidden. Excellent value for the money and although categorized as "quality", tastes more like a "premium" wine, entering serious competition of the similar wines in Croatia. Not designed for aging, but it could hold few more years for sure!
