January 2, 2020 - 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Merlot, 7% Petite Verdot and 1% Malbec. 14.4% ABV. I let it breathe for 1.5 hours. Drank over 3. Wow. Has a density and purity I wasn't expecting. Mouthcoating, perfectly integrated tannins. A juicy, super long finish. Has a mildly sweet, aromatic nose. Easily the best Insignia I've had. If you see it at auction, don't buy it. Let me.

January 1, 2020 - This is the time to drink this wine. Excellent expression of an aged California Cab. The first impression is a bit too earthy. It needs an hour to open up in a decanter. After that, and over the next two hours, it shows that CA can compete with top Bordeaux wines. Earth, spice of cinnamon and pepper. Nice, fully mellowed tannins and fruit. A long herb, earth, spice finish. A satisfying wine unlike overblown younger CA cabs. Balances well with food.

December 29, 2019 - A racehorse of a wine, just gorgeous. Smooth as glass, so precise and integrated I had to slow down drinking it. This restored my faith in Insignia. Purchased on release. Decanted for 2 hours and drank over 4 more.

December 24, 2019 - Had with friends and family at the Marine Room in La Jolla CA. A wonderful Christmas Eve dinner with ocean views with steak and lobster. Bought this 16 years ago when I started my collection. Decanted for 1.5 hours, and could have handled more. Nose of crushed black berries, currents, with cedar box, pencil lead minerals with loamy moist soil. Palate follows characteristics of nose with balance of firm tannins and acid. Could write for days on the numerous variables of flavors and harmony of the minutes long finish, but will sum it up wth 100 points. A great wine.

December 22, 2019 - Needed 3 hours to come into its full prime. Blackberry, tobacco some leather and hints of prune with the Napa finish of casis. Wish I had more.
