March 18, 2020 - Wow. Beautiful wine. Earthy nose with a hint of briny olives, reminded me of a Beaucastel CDP. Just got better from there. Mouth feel is fantastic, mid-weight, smooth, balanced. If you don't try and zero in too much it's simply delicious, but once you start to really pay attention there's a huge range of well-integrated flavors, lots of red and black fruit, earthy tones, spices, chocolate, smoke, toffee. So much to discover. Tannins still there, but like everything else, in balance. Finish stays with you. Wonderful wine, I suspect in the perfect drinking window. Incidentally, poured into to a decanter expecting to wait 60 to 90 minutes, but couldn't help myself, so poured a small glass. It improved noticeably over the next 2 hours, from a great starting point, mostly in the nearly flawless integration.

January 30, 2020 - Decanted for 2 hours. Pronounced rich, lush, mildly sweet blueberries with a strong nose of vanilla. Deeply concentrated. Velvety, elegant mouthfeel with beautifully balanced tannins. Rich and opulent. In a great drinking window now but could easily go another 5+ years.

January 2, 2020 - 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Merlot, 7% Petite Verdot and 1% Malbec. 14.4% ABV. I let it breathe for 1.5 hours. Drank over 3. Wow. Has a density and purity I wasn't expecting. Mouthcoating, perfectly integrated tannins. A juicy, super long finish. Has a mildly sweet, aromatic nose. Easily the best Insignia I've had. If you see it at auction, don't buy it. Let me.

January 1, 2020 - This is the time to drink this wine. Excellent expression of an aged California Cab. The first impression is a bit too earthy. It needs an hour to open up in a decanter. After that, and over the next two hours, it shows that CA can compete with top Bordeaux wines. Earth, spice of cinnamon and pepper. Nice, fully mellowed tannins and fruit. A long herb, earth, spice finish. A satisfying wine unlike overblown younger CA cabs. Balances well with food.

December 29, 2019 - A racehorse of a wine, just gorgeous. Smooth as glass, so precise and integrated I had to slow down drinking it. This restored my faith in Insignia. Purchased on release. Decanted for 2 hours and drank over 4 more.
