Community Tasting Notes 2

March 2, 2013 - Not decanted, consumed over ~1 1/2 hours. Mostly consistent with my 9/28/2012 note but a little more integrated and a little more of a dark, smoky/graphite note. Yet again different in style than the other syrah/grenache blends I've had in recent days, but right in league with them in terms of quality...quite good now, with some potential for greater things. 89+

September 28, 2012 - Not decanted, consumed over 2+ hours. This medium-weight syrah/grenache blend is dark in color but has a nice freshness and minerality to it. Primary but not overripe, with dark berry/cherry fruit and an edge of something like graphite. Acids are pervasive but not aggressive, and tannins are slightly coarse.

I really like the style of this wine and think it will come together well; my only hesitation is that I'm not sure what potential the fruit has for real complexity. I'm intrigued to try his single-vineyard wines. 89ish for now.
