Community Tasting Notes 5

September 10, 2006 - Whoa... overripe. Porty and (blackberry) jammy, distinct note of burnt raisin. Patricia: "caramelized cigar." Not pleasing.

April 8, 2006 - Fruit Front cherry and peppery. First glass has some "creosote" taste that I often find in Spanish wines. I decant for two hours 2/3 of the bottle, and vacuum the rest.

By the end of the 2/3 bottle, the creosote was gone, or I was feeling it. But alas, science could be used, as I still had the vacuumed wine. Another test, it's not drunkenness, it is a wine that needs decanting!

Great bargain, good for an any-day wine.

February 19, 2006 - A good example of Spanish garnacha, and from a relatively new d.o. (about 1 hour southwest of Zaragoza), cherry up front, some plum afterwards. A little bite of pepper (white?) on the back end. Enjoyable on its own, but at this price I wouldn't hesitate to make a great sangria with it.

November 25, 2005 - A good simple wine, and outstanding at the price. 3 strs
