May 9, 2023 - Purchased at the winery on release and kept in personal cellar ever since. Single bottle purchase after a tasting. Generic cork with no label or identifying information. Cork has held up nicely. Upon opening, I have to say that I am impressed at how well this has held up. In the glass, the wine is medium gold/yellow with a very slight green tinge to it. On the nose, some almond, some lime rind, some grapefruit, seaspray/saltiness, with a touch of mango and underripe pineapple. Doesn't feel over the top. Has an old-world character to it. On the palate,
a tiny bit of butteriness, some bitterness, grapefruit, lime, touch of banana, saltiness, toastiness, a touch of oak is still present, and some spice. This is definitely better on the nose than on the palate, unfortunately. Medium plus body, medium plus acidity, good length.

I never bought a lot of WA white wines when I lived in Seattle, they were always just too much for me. But this is very well balanced and I have to say has aged quite nicely, although the fruit on the palate hasn’t evolved the way I would like it to.

(Lauren Ashton Cellars Chardonnay Columbia Valley) An aromatically appealing wine with pear, spice, vanilla, and yellow apple. The palate is medium bodied with a textured, rich feel with a zip of lemony acidity on the finish that stitches it all together. 100% Chardonnay. Fermented and aged in stainless steel with a limited amount aged in French oak. Arete Vineyard (Royal City). 13.1% alcohol. 200 cases produced. Sample provided by winery.
