Community Tasting Notes 58

October 11, 2020 - Only .5 tons to the acre off of their mixed vines planted in 1910.
This is a field blend predominantly of Zinfandel, with some Petite Sirah, Alicante Bouschet, Carignan, Syrah and other red grapes.
Decanted and showing moderate and fine sediment. Dark, brooding and opaque garnet in the glass.
Scents of roasted nuts, leather, tobacco, slightly dried blueberry, wild bramble berry, plum, wild herbs, spice and notes of tar, anise and sarsaparilla.
The palate is smooth and reveals dense fruit, well integrated chewy tannins, juicy acidity and moderate abv. Flavors show off notes of dried blueberry wild black berry, plum, licorice, herbs, black tea, tar, spice, roasted filberts, tobacco, leather and hints of sarsaparilla. The finish lingers letting the tannins, acid and fruit play out.

December 15, 2018 - Brambly, blackberries and other dark fruit. Sweet on the palette but kept fresh by the spices, acidity and alcohol. Short finish. Not overly complex, but a delicious and enjoyable wine for a great price.

September 3, 2017 - Lots of ripe black fruit, very Syrah characteristics, interesting and complex spice on the finish. Drinking very well now.
